How long does the application process take from beginning to end?

A:

For U.S. Opportunities: Upon completion of the personal interview, Auntie Anne's will make a decision within 3 to 4 weeks regarding your approval status.
For International Opportunities: The application approval process may take several months because of the amount of information needed to complete a licensee application.

Will Auntie Anne's assist me with financing a store?

A:

Auntie Anne's franchisees are required to have their own financial systems in place to build and operate their stores. However, we can provide a list of lenders who have expressed interest in lending to franchisees. Additionally, the SBA (Small Business Administration) has approved Auntie Anne's to be listed on the Franchise Registry. This listing ensures expedited loan processes for prospective franchisees obtaining SBA financing.

For U.S. Opportunities: Franchisees are awarded franchise rights for a specific store location.
For International Opportunities: Yes, Auntie Anne's awards territories or regions to its international licensees.

Can I purchase an existing store?

A:

For U.S. Opportunities: To obtain a list of stores available for purchase, please send an e-mail with the subject line as "LIST" to aasale@auntieannesinc.com. You will receive an automated reply with the current list of stores for purchase.
For International Opportunities: Auntie Anne's is open to all inquiries for international expansion in countries not currently under development. To learn more about international development opportunities, call 717-435-1479.

I have an ideal location in mind and there are no other Auntie Anne's locations nearby. Can I pursue this location?

A:

For U.S. Opportunities: Prior to discussing potential locations with applicants interested in opportunities with Auntie Anne's, applicants must go through our application approval process. Upon approval as a potential Auntie Anne's frachisee candidate, our Real Estate and Site Development Department can then begin to investigate possible locations on your behalf.
For International Opportunities: As an Auntie Anne's licensee, you have the opportunity to develop multiple locations within your awarded territory or region.

What is the initial investment for an Auntie Anne's franchise?

A:

For U.S. Opportunities: Initial investment range is $197,875 - $444,100. Auntie Anne's requires that prospective candidates have the ability to secure funds of up to $350,000.
For International Opportunities: The initial investment is determined on an individual country or territory basis. A minimum net worth of $1 to $2 million (U.S. dollars) is required.

Does Auntie Anne's require royalty payments?

A:

For U.S. Opportunities: Yes. The current royalty fee is 7%. This fee payment contributes to the overall support system, e.g., training, field support, purchasing, construction, new product development, and quality control, to mention just a few. There is also an advertising/marketing and development fund fee of 1% that supports all marketing programs.
For International Opportunities: Yes. Royalty payments, licenses, and store opening fees are negotiated for each country on an individual basis.

How much money can I expect to make?

A:

For U.S. and International Opportunities: Auntie Anne's does not make earnings claims regarding any of our locations. The amount of money individual locations can expect to make will vary depending on a multitude of factors, including the locations and demographics, operating costs, sales, and the overall ability of the franchisee/licensee to operate and manage their franchise location(s). Other considerations for international licensees would include duties, tariffs, etc.

For U.S. Opportunities: Yes. Franchisees are awarded locations based on their ability to operate their existing stores and their financial ability to support additional locations.
For International Opportunities: Yes. In fact, international licensees join the Auntie Anne's system with the commitment to open multiple locations within an awarded territory or region.

Q:

What type of training will I receive before I open a store?

A:

For U.S. Opportunities: Auntie Anne's will provide initial training for a minimum of three individuals, which is conducted at the Auntie Anne's Training Center in Gap, Pennsylvania, prior to the new store opening. The training includes:

  • 5 days of "Operation Pretzel Lovers" training
  • 5 days of Management Training including:
    • 2 days of "Manage It! People * Operations * Profits"
    • 1 day of "Lead the Way!"
    • 1.5 days of "Train Your World!"
    • "Auntie Anne's from A to Z" (for franchisees only)

On-site training is also provided at the store opening.

For International Opportunities: Extensive training for the licensee and his/her staff consists of several weeks at Auntie Anne's training center and at the corporate office.

Is there a cost to attend the initial training?

A:

For U.S. and International Opportunities: The cost for the initial training for the prospective franchisee/licensee and staff is included in the initial franchise fee for U.S. franchisees or the license fee for international licensees. However, the prospective franchisee/licensee is responsible for all other expenses incurred while attending training, including travel costs, room and board, and employee salaries.
